The following members desired to form an Institute by the name "Def ence Colony Ex-Services Institute" s ituated in the Union Territory of Delhi at 'C' Block, Defence Colony, New Delhi in 19 76, to functio n under the aegis of Defence Colony Welfare As s ociation Regd. No.S-3 110 of June 3110 Under Section 2 of the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1957 as extended to the Union Territory of Delhi: -

The objects are as given here under: -

  1. To provide and afford to its members facilities, amenities, privileges, comforts and conveniences as are normally provided in a Club.

  2. To associate the activities of the Club with other institutions, clubs, associations, societies in or outside Delhi.

  3. To organize and arrange activities, functions, meets and seminars in fu rtherance ofthe interest of the Club. .

  4. To do all such other lawful things, as are incidental or conducive to the attainment ofthe above objects .

The case for substituting the name "Defence Colony (WA) Club" for Defence Colony Ex.Services Institute registered with the registrar of societies was dropped. After protracted correspondence with L&DO, it was agreed that the Club will function under the aegis of the Defence Colony Welfare Association and not as an independent body. The L&DO rep lied on 12-06-1979, stating that there was no objection to the . As sociation drawing Rules & Regulations govern the activities of the Club "to form a separate body fo r this p urpose will not be acceptable." These rules and regulations for the Club were app roved by the Defence Colony Welfare As s ociation, the parent body, ofthe Club at their AGM held on 31 August 1980.
